FAQ
Practical answers for volunteers, partners, and families exploring Numo Education.
What is Numo Education and who is it for?
Numo Education is a volunteer-powered tutoring program that supports students who need extra help in foundational skills. We work with partner schools and community organizations to serve learners who benefit from consistent, structured academic support.
What subjects do you teach and why only those?
We focus on math and English literacy because they are the core building blocks for success in every subject area. Concentrating on these essentials lets volunteers deliver consistent, high impact sessions.
How do volunteer applications work, and what happens after submission?
Volunteers apply online with availability, background, and experience. Our team reviews applications, may request a short interview, and follows up with next steps by email.
What does accepted mean and how do I create an account?
Accepted means you have been approved to serve and are cleared to move forward. You will receive an email with a link to create your volunteer account and complete onboarding.
What commitment is expected from volunteers (time, sessions)?
Most volunteers commit to one to two sessions per week for a semester. Sessions are scheduled with partner sites, and reliability is a key expectation.
How are volunteers trained and supervised?
Volunteers complete onboarding, lesson walkthroughs, and training on student engagement. Ongoing support includes check-ins, coaching, and access to staff for questions.
Where do sessions take place and how do students join?
Sessions happen at partner schools or community sites. Students are referred by partner staff and matched based on availability and learning needs.
How do partner institutions apply and what are the requirements?
Partners apply through our partnership inquiry process and share details about student needs, space, and scheduling. We prioritize sites that can coordinate student attendance and provide an on-site point of contact.
How do you handle safety and child protection?
We use basic safety steps such as identity verification, training on student boundaries, and on-site supervision. Volunteers follow partner site rules, and concerns are reported to staff immediately.
How is impact tracked (attendance, progress, reporting)?
We track attendance, session participation, and skill progress through consistent check-ins. Partners receive periodic updates, and we use feedback to improve support.
How do verified volunteer hours work (and when do you issue them)?
Hours are logged after each session and verified by staff based on attendance records. We issue confirmations at the end of each term or upon request once hours are approved.
